Why you chose your major

I always knew I loved math and science and thought that biology would be the perfect major. Not only am I taking classes that are interesting to me but, they are also preparing me for professional school. After taking my general chemistry classes, I realized I also enjoy chemistry and decided to add it as a minor.

Favorite and/or most impactful course

I think organic chemistry has made a big impact on me. It's really tested my study habits and showed me that I am capable of doing hard classes if I put the work into them. It has also helped me practice seeing things in 3D. This will be important in dental school when it comes to reconstructing a tooth.

Research or internship experience

I'm currently working as a Surgical Assistant at Nebraska Oral and Facial Surgery. This has been an amazing opportunity to gain experience and I have gotten to learn so much. I work alongside our doctors to make sure that rooms are sterilized and set up for upcoming procedures. During surgeries, I am either next to the doctors handing them whatever they need for the procedure or I am walking around the room making sure surgery is running smoothly.

Other involvement

I am the 2024 Vice President of the pre-dental club here at UNL. I am also the Director of Diversity for my sorority, Alpha Phi Nu Chapter.

Why you chose Nebraska

I liked the community I had built here and knew that it would only grow if I stayed in Lincoln. There were also many opportunities and resources to help me excel at the university.
