Awardee
Jeremy Simpson | Senior
Psychology
Employed by the Department of Biological Sciences
Our second Ovation awardee is Jeremy Simpson, a senior Psychology major working in the Department of Biological Sciences. As his nominations say, "Jeremy Simpson has been a student worker in Biological Sciences for 3 years. I have met few such pleasant and helpful students. No matter how tedious or cumbersome the task assigned, Jeremy finds a way to accomplish it with a smile and no complaints. We rely on our student workers to help maintain the flow of work in the office, Jeremy readily steps up to the plate to assist us when we are short-staff and not to mention short-tempered! Jeremy is always cheerful, helpful, polite, pleasant, easy-going, up for the task, conscientious (everything you would like to find in an employee). We will not easily replace Jeremy when he graduates; yet he will do well in the outside world based on the temperament and work ethic he has displayed during his time in Biological Sciences...
"I do not work in that department, so I do not see his job performance up close. I do, however, see Jeremy when he is out and about delivering the mail. When he comes to our office, he is always friendly. He goes out of his way to ask us if we have anything that he could deliver for us. He carries this friendliness away from the office, too. Whenever I see him around campus or even off of campus, he will stop to talk. He does this even when he is with a friend. To be with friends and still take time to say hello to a middle-aged woman is amazing...
"He has been consistently reliable, hard-working and pleasant to work with. He is always willing to help out around the office and in the stockroom, and I have never heard him complain about being needed somewhere other than where he currently is. Personally, I have found Jeremy to be a good friend and enjoy seeing him on a daily basis. He has worked year-round for three years, and attended classes as well. This will be his last semester here...
"He would rather be busy than just sit around. He knows all aspects of his job, doing mail runs between Manter and Beadle, photocopying, helping with recycling, running errands, doing mail ro assisting the stockroom with errands, such as picking up supplies from vendors, assisting with answering phone calls, not afraid of any type of work or task that we give him... Jeremy Simpson is one of the nicest, pleasant and hard-working students that I have ever worked with in my 20+ years at the university..."
