Our Ovation for December goes out to Claire Brandt, Business Administration junior working in the Department of English. As her nominations say, "Claire joined the Department of English in the Fall of 2004. She was assigned to work in the departmental copy center and quickly learned how to use the copy machines in addition to troubleshooting most problems that arise. Claire is so good at fixing the machines that I usually wait until she has had a chance to check out the problem before I call the repair people. She has an attention to detail and will not copy materials just for the sake of making copies. She thinks about what she is doing and will ask if something doesn't look right. She has excellent leadership and training skills. This fall she trained two new students who are working with her this academic year. Last spring there was a staff vacancy in the main office and Claire worked additional hours answering the phone, assisting students and faculty, sorting/distributing the mail, and updating the office hours database. We are fortunate to have such a pleasant and competent student working for us....

"She helps with projects in the departmental office. She can handle complex assignments and she always accomplishes her tasks with efficiency and accuracy. She's very bright and will make recommendations about handling the work in a other ways. Her knowledge of the department allows us to leave her in charge of the office for periods of time when the office staff attends meetings. She's dependable and personable and very helpful. We're lucky to have her...

"Claire is one of the most personable young women around. She is always conscientious, thorough, reliable, respectful and possesses a great attitude all of the time. She accomplishes every task that we give her with grace and a wonderful smile. She has even gone beyond the call of duty and run errands for the office staff on her own time--all with an attitude that I wish we could clone. She fills in at the main desk and handles all of the oddities that can come up in that position-she does it all seemingly effortlessly. She will be one of the students that we will reminisce about when she graduates and one that we will look forward to seeing again if she comes back to visit. It is such a great privilege to have a co-worker so reliable and one that feels like she is "one of the girls"..."
