With 8 nominations from the department of Chemistry, our Ovation for April goes out to Jodi Schreurs, graduating Biological Sciences major working in both Chemistry and Biological Sciences. As her nominations say, "Jodi Schreurs is a Senior and has been employed with the Chemistry Dept. She has been in charge of the Reci on Line Quizzes "ROQ" for the past 3 years. Her work has a major impact on several thousand students taking Chemistry 109, 110, 111, 113, 114, 253, 254... She is one of the most patient, yet caring people I have met, especially considering the circumstance of her job. She manages weekly online quizes, often quizzes that students put off until late the night before its due, resulting in long nights for Jodi. As her fellow student worker, I can say that Jodi goes above the call of duty as she stays up late to attain to the satisfication to students, yet she manages to juggle this with her own academic life... She is always there to deal with any issues the students may encounter while taking these quizzes and deals with problems in an efficient manner. Jodi has been my lifeline several times when questions have come up... She is readily available to help students and eager to address any problems, be it computer or conceptual. Her work has been greatly appreciated by the Department...

"Jodi Schreurs has been an extremely valuable student assistant within the Chemistry Department as she has managed (and even assisted in some design aspects) of the department's on-line resources for students. I met Jodi four years ago when she was an "A+" student in general chemistry. Her work ethic and integrity were also quite impressive... she monitored a special "help session" email account during the week to handle routine student questions about logistics of logging on, dispute the ROQ answer to a question and other miscellaneous concerns... She is unerringly adept at knowing how to solve problems or sort out those to send to us that need a bit more detailed answer. Through her work any new professor to our program can, with confidence, know that they can add this valuable learning tool to their curriculum... Jodi brings a professionalism well beyond her years to this position. Of course she has done all this while being a full time student earning exceptional grades... Whatever Jodi does, she does it well. Jodi is certainly deserving of this award and I give her my highest recommendation... She encounters both positive and negative situations, yet deals with students, staff and faculty in an understanding and professional manner. We are proud to hear that she has been accepted to UNMC as a Medical student. I believe that Jodi is well deserving of the College of Arts & Sciences "Ovation" award..."
