Shea Svoboda - April Awardee

Shea Svoboda

Our Ovation for April goes out to Shea Svoboda, student worker in Computer Science and Engineering. As his nominations say:

"Shea Svoboda has been a part of the Systems Administration team since 2003. He is amazingly knowledgeable about intricate details within the systems group. He troubleshoots many of our problems, so the regular Systems employees have time to work on their many projects. Shea could easily step into a regular position within any Systems group and do very well. He not only performs his job efficiently and accurately, but he always does it in a very friendly manner and always with a smile on his face. He is always patient, even with my 10th question about the same thing. He is truly a joy to have around. Shea is very deserving of this prestigious award."

"Shea is an invaluable member of our systems administration team, though quite often the kinds of tasks he is asked to do, take him further and further away from things normally found in his job description. Shea consistently handles things thrown his direction with immediate and full attention, and is rarely seen without a smile. His positive disposition, detail-oriented work ethic, and dedication to his job is more than any department could ask for. His patience, hard-work, and willingness to go above and beyond on a consistent basis are prime reasons that he is perfect candidate for this award."

"Shea is a computer support person in the Department who had demonstrated a commitment and knowledge that can only be described as exceptional. He solves computer and software problems for faculty and staff in the Department. If he does not know the solution, he will work continuously until the problem is solved but he does this in a very efficient manner. He sets up many of the PCs, Macs, printers, etc for everyone in the Dept. When we moved to the Schorr Center, he agreed to work any number of hours between Christmas and New Years to make sure that the move went smoothly. He also coordinated much of the furniture move and set-up for Schorr Center including the move of furniture, computers, etc. from Miller and Paine, Ferguson Hall, and the 501 Building. He deserves an ovation!"
