Why you chose your major

I chose to major in Biological Sciences because of my interests in learning about the fundamental aspects of life and how the human body works. My minor in Humanities in Medicine allows me to learn about the human side of healthcare and explore how different subjects like philosophy or psychology influence health.

Favorite and/or most impactful course

One class that has made a significant impact on my education was genetics. This class is important for my degree, as was able to learn about inheritance, gene expression, genetic variation, and molecular genetics. Although these topics are valuable to learn, the class also taught me how important it is to engage in the material you're learning in meaningful ways. It was a rigorous course and helped me further develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that can be applicable to other courses and future experiences.

Research or internship experience

An internship experience I've had since being in college was working as an Orientation Leader for the Office of New Student Enrollment here at UNL. Through this internship, I was able to welcome new students and families to UNL, educate them on campus resources, and help them connect with peers.

Other involvement

On campus I am involved in Gamma Phi Beta, University of Nebraska Dance Marathon, NSE, and Pre-PA club. I have also volunteered on campus at the Husker Pantry.

Why you chose Nebraska

I decided to come to Nebraska because of the supportive network and close-knit feel of the campus community. The faculty at UNL are dedicated to teaching, mentorship, and advancing knowledge through research or other experiences you may be curious about. Everyone I met during my visit was passionate about helping me find learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom and had a genuine interest in my future.
