Student Affiliate Chapter sponsored by the Department of Chemistry whose purpose is "to encourage in the broadest and most liberal manner the advancement of chemistry in all its branches," among others.
American Meteorological Society, UNL Student Chapter
Part of the Meteorology/Climatology program, open to all University students, meets monthly and sponsors field trips, guest speakers, a forecast contest, and an annual banquet. In the past, the chapter has taken overnight field trips to the National Severe Storm Laboratory in Norman, Okla., the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., and the NWS River Forecast Center in Minneapolis.
Arts and Sciences Advisory Board
Acts as a vital liaison between students and the College Dean. Students become members of the board through an application process in the fall or through election to the ASUN student government in the spring. The board maintains a membership of about 30 members.
Communication Studies Club
A forum for students and faculty interested in the study, criticism, research, teaching and application of artistic, humanistic, and scientific principles of communication studies.
Cornhusker Forensics
The Department of Communication Studies is home to the University's forensics program, which is a frequent winner in national competitions.
Hillel Jewish Student Organization
Judaic Studies sponsors the ultimate UNL student resource for all things Jewish.
Phi Lambda Upsilon, Rho Chapter
Chemistry Honor Society sponsored by the Department of Chemistry which offer a variety of social and professional development opportunities.
Pi Sigma Alpha
The Political Science Department participates in this national political science honorary. Local chapter officers are elected from undergraduate majors in political science and meet throughout the year developing workshops of interest to undergraduates dealing with such topics as procedures for applying and requirements for entering law and graduate school and securing employment with a bachelor's degree in political science.
Psi Chi and Undergraduate Psychology Organization
Psi Chi is a national honorary society for graduate and undergraduate psychology students. It was founded to recognize, encourage, stimulate and maintain excellence in scholarship of its members and advance the science of psychology. The UNL Chapter was the 8th Chapter of now over 800 chapters nationally and is one of the charter members.
The Undergraduate Psychology Organization (UPO) is an information organization sponsored by students for students interested in psychology. By sponsoring various activities, UPO promotes interest in psychology outside the traditional classroom setting.
Psi Chi and UPO joined forces during the 2002-2003 academic school year to better serve the needs of students. Membership can be held in one or both organizations, but all of the meetings and events are held together.
Sigma Tau Delta
The English Department participates in this local chapter of the international undergraduate/graduate English honorary society. Creative writers can help edit or contribute works to an undergraduate literary magazine, Laurus, and are eligible for a number of prizes in our annual writing contests.
Society of Physics Students (SPS)
The Physics Department sponsors an active local chapter, which is affiliated with the American Physical Society. Nebraska's SPS chapter holds regular meetings to discuss common interests and concerns, organizes field trips and participates in the Saturday Science program for elementary school students.
